Hashtag against Barca president becomes global trending topic
A mundane Monday night broke loose with the rage of FC Barcelona fans on twitter who asked for Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu to step down.
The hashtag #BartomeuDimiteYa was launched on twitter just 24 hours after the painful defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup and it became a global trending topic on social media platform, Barcelona based newspaper Sport reported.
The list of grievances were pretty big, the most vital being the fact that Bartomeu was destroying the philosophy of the club
Youth players now rarely make it to the first team because they are not given chances. Barcelona have in the recent years lost a host of academy graduates – most recently Alex Grimaldo, who left for Portuguese club Benfica last season.
But it’s easy to see why twitter exploded on this particular day. Most Barca fans see the signing of Paulinho as a major setback for a club which have forgotten it’s roots.
After the defeat to Real Madrid, the Paulinho signing was not received well. Meanwhile Sergi Roberto, another player from the famed La Masia is said to be unsettled at the club because of the arrival of Paulinho.
Fans are also aware that the board and the president were very reactive during the whole Neymar ‘transfer saga’.
