18000-plus tickets allocated for Hamza’s first home appearance

As many as 18,300 tickets will be available for fans as excitement builds for Bangladesh's AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Singapore on June 10 -- a match that could see Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury make his first home appearance in national colours at the newly renovated National Stadium.
Hamza, who made his debut for Bangladesh on March 25 in their Asian Cup fixture against hosts India, had received an overwhelming welcome when he visited his ancestral home in Habiganj, Sylhet, ahead of the match in Shillong.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is working towards staging the high-profile clash at the 22,000-capacity stadium, formerly known as the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
To make the arrangement successful, the BFF Competition Committee and the officials of National Sports Council, owner of the National Stadium, sat in a meeting at the conference room of the National Stadium today.
"The NSC have updated us about the progress of the renovation works of the National Stadium and we are optimistic to get the stadium within the deadline of May 22 because we want to host an international friendly match before the June 10 tie at the National Stadium," Competitions committee chairman Golam Gaus told the Daily Star at the BFF House this afternoon.
"Besides, we want the national team taking preparation on this ground before their match."
However, Competitions Committee member Tajwar Awal, also younger brother of BFF president Tabith Awal, informed the media that they want to bring back the spectators to the stadium through hosting the Asian Cup Qualifying match against Singapore at the National Stadium, that's why they discussed different things with the NSC officials.
"Some 18,300 tickets will be available for the spectators at the general galleries. We also want to sell the tickets online and Marketing committee will fix the prices of the tickets after discussing the matter with the BFF.
"I think we have to look after the things, so that the spectators can turn up the stadium and the BFF also can earn some bucks selling the tickets," said Tajwar adding the rest of tickets will be allotted to the different stakeholders of football.
After the briefing, the BFF officials and NSC inspected the gallery and ground, which is being prepared for a long period but the pitch looked uneven in some parts. Gaus further informed that the pitch is being made even by the roller machines while the NSC has been preparing the separate rooms for the match commissioner and the referees as per international requirements.
The former national footballer expects everything to be done within the deadline, and thus they will be able to host June 10 match against Singapore successfully.
