Afghanistan confirm Sept 7 Sylhet FIFA friendly
The Afghanistan Football Federation today, on its verified Facebook page, published a schedule for their friendly plans for the upcoming September FIFA Window, earmarking Sylhet as the venue for the friendly against Bangladesh on September 7.
The Facebook post says that the former SAFF member will hold a training camp in Sylhet before facing Bangladesh on September 7 and play another friendly in Manila against the Philippines on September 12.
The September FIFA window runs from September 4 to 12.
Bangladesh are also supposed to play two friendly matches during this window, however, Bangladesh Football Federation is yet to confirm the name of opposition teams. The BFF officials have been saying that Afghanistan, Nepal and Myanmar are among the teams they are in discussion with. They are also intent on playing both matches at the home venue in Sylhet.
It has been learnt, though, that Myanmar have already confirmed their two matches of the FIFA window.
A source inside the BFF confirmed that they are likely to host Afghanistan on September 7. He also said they may play another match against the Afghans at the same venue prior to the start of the FIFA window while not ruling out the option of playing against another team after September 7.
