Ancelotti to take charge of Brazil in 2024: reports

According a few news media in Brazil and Spain, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will take over the reins of the Brazilian national team starting in 2024. An official announcement regarding the same will be made in January.

Ancelotti has been on the top of Brazil's wishlist to succeed Tite, who left the managerial post after the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Since then, the Selecao have been operating with Ramon Menezes as the interim boss while pursuing the appointment of the Real Madrid boss.

However, the 64-year-old tactician made it clear that he intends to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu until his contract expires in 2024.

Despite this, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) did not give up their pursuit of Ancelotti and were understood to be prepared to wait for the Italian until next year.

And, following meetings with CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues over the last week in Spain, Ancelotti is now understood to have agreed to become the Brazil manager starting in the summer of 2024, after his Real Madrid contract expires.

The Real Madrid boss will reportedly appoint a trusted colleague of his to work with Menezes until he takes over the reins next year.

There had been talks of Ancelotti's son, Davide, joining the Brazil national team setup as a coach to ease the transition. However, the report states that the option has been discarded and the veteran tactician will name someone else to see things over along with Menezes.

Real Madrid are believed to be aware of all these developments and accepted Ancelotti's desire to take over this new challenge in his career next year. However, both parties have agreed that an announcement will not be made until the early parts of 2024.
