Bangladesh storm into final

Bangladesh set up a final clash against Laos in the Bangamata U-19 Women’s International Gold Cup with an emphatic 3-0 win over Mongolia in the second semifinal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

The hosts, buoyed by a racusous crowd, took the lead in the first minute of stoppage time of the first half, thanks to a superb strike from midfielder Monica Chakma. The lead was doubled by Marzia in the 69th minute before substitute Tohura Khatun wrapped up the victory in the 85th minute with a placing shot which took a deflection off a defender before beating the Mongolian goalkeeper.

Bangladesh will meet Laos, who dispatched Kyrgyzstan 7-1 in the first semifinal on Monday, in the final on May 4.
