The Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday announced a 22-member women's squad for the upcoming 19th Asian Games.

Two players – Shohagi Kisku and Aklima Khatun – were excluded from the squad that recently played two FIFA friendly matches against Nepal at home.

The Asian Games are scheduled to get underway on September 23, but the football event is likely to start earlier than the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, forward Shamsunnahar Junior -- who struck the first of three goals against Nepal during the 2022 SAFF Women's Championship final -- returned to the squad after missing the Nepal fixtures due to fever.

Coach Mahabubur Rahman Litu informed that the girls have now been in recovery period following two friendly matches and start their preparation for the Asian Games within a couple of days.

"After playing two friendly matches following a long gap, we found out some weak points and that we will be working on those areas in the training," said Litu, adding that they are also planning to play a friendly match against Vietnam in October's window as part of their preparation for their maiden appearance in Asian Games.

Bangladesh Squad:

Goalkeepers: Rupna Chakma, Sathi Bishwas and Swarna Rani Mandol

Defenders: Nilufa Yeasmin Nila, Sheuli Azim, Anai Mogini, Shamsunnahar Sr, Masura Parveen, Afeida Khandokar and Surma Jannat

Midfielders: Ritu Porno Chakma, Shamsunnar Jr, Swapna Rani, Monica Chakma and Maria Manda.

Forwards: Sabina Khatun, Sanjida Akter, Krishna Rani Sarkar, Tahura Khatun, Shahida Akter Ripa and Sumaya Matsushima and Marzia.
