Of the 18 rebel players of the Bangladesh women's team, some 10 players met head coach Peter Butler today on the first day of the national team's training camp for the AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers in June-July.

The meeting took place at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) headquarters, and according to BFF women's committee chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, the coach told the players to leave old gripes in the past and start afresh.

"They sat in my room as the girls wanted to meet Peter before starting training. I arranged the meeting so that there is no misunderstanding between the two parties," Kiron told The Daily Star after the meeting.

"There was hardly any discussion, rather Peter said whatever happened is in the past and he doesn't want to talk about the past. Peter said the girls have to train the way he will train them and the girls agreed."

The players were also approached for their comments on the meeting but they did not respond to the phone calls.

Earlier in late January, 18 senior players skipped training under Butler and demanded his removal as the team's head coach citing different reasons.

The incident prompted BFF to launch an investigation but the committee did not find anything conclusive and left the decision to BFF president Tabith Awal, who sat with both parties to find a solution.

The rebel girls finally agreed to return to training under Butler after the Bangladesh team played two FIFA friendly matches against the UAE where Butler fielded junior players and the side suffered identical 3-1 defeats.

Though the preparation for AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers starts tomorrow, four senior players - Sabina Khatun, Monika Chakma, Ritu Porna Chakma and Matsushima Sumaya - left for Thimphu to play in Bhutan's Women's League while three more senior players are waiting to depart the country for the same purpose.

So far, 40 players have been reported to the women's camp till today while two more players are on the way to join the camp, informed Kiron.
