Hamza's inclusion to 'enhance reputation', says BFF boss
Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury's clearance to represent Bangladesh "will inspire more expatriates" to play for the national team and "enhance the reputation" of the country's football, said newly elected BFF president Tabith Awal.
"We believe Bangladesh has immense talent, both within the country and among the diaspora. I am confident Hamza will inspire others to don the Bangladesh jersey," Awal told reporters at his Gulshan residence on Friday.
"Players like Hamza, and others who may follow, will elevate our reputation. At the moment, we are prioritising building a winning mentality over focusing on branding value," he added.
The BFF president also announced plans to organise a one-month long training camp for the national team during the midseason break of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), aiming to prepare for next year's Asian Cup qualifiers against India.
The 27-year-old Hamza is expected to make his national team debut in the match against India, although Awal noted that further details would be disclosed in due course.
