Jamal seeks unpaid wages

Jamal Bhuiyan, captain of Bangladesh national football team, recently lodged a complaint to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), seeking intervention from the local game's governing body regarding unpaid wages of Tk 16,50,000 from his former club Saif Sporting Club.

Former Saif SC captain Jamal informed the BFF in the letter that he did not receive his salary for the months of February, March and July last season, despite promises from the club president and general secretary following the completion of Bangladesh Premier League on August 2.

"I basically complained to BFF about Saif SC for not giving my salary. All the other players in Saif have received their salaries in full. Even players who never played a single minute got it. I am the only one who didn't get the salary which is very unfortunate. I have seen that they have invested in other sports during the last three months but still they didn't pay my salary," Jamal told The Daily Star today.

Jamal also claimed that he tried to communicate with the club president, general secretary and the team manager but they did not respond.

"We will clear Jamal's dues salary after checking out the ledger but let him come to our office first because the club hasn't had any problems with any players regarding their salaries,' Sheikh Maruf Hasan, managing director of Saif SC said.

BFF professional league manager Zaber Bin Taher Ansary informed that Saif SC did not give them any reply with the deadline having ended on Nov 8 and said they would place the agenda to the BFF players' status committee.

Saif SC had withdrawn from Bangladesh Premier League despite producing their best-ever performance in the league last season, finishing third in the standings.
