SAFF champions collect reward at SBNCS
Members of the Bangladesh national team came to the BCB premises to collect the awarded sum of money that was promised by cricket's local governing body for winning the SAFF Championship title.
The title was won in September last year but complications arose regarding handover of the monetary reward of fifty-one lakh. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) had said that they did not know anything about the money that was to be given as reward while BCB yesterday said that the check had been ready for a while.
Captain Sabina Khatun along with two others and coach Golam Rabbani Choton came to the BCB premises today to collect the reward from BCB.
"There was a communication gap and we had wanted to hand it to them last year. They were also busy and although we had communicated, they weren't being able to manage time so we couldn't hand over the check before," cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told the media today.
As per their initial promise, BCB had issued checks for each individual players separately. But due to complications in scheduling, the BCB had to issue checks again. The eleven players of the final were given Taka two lakh checks while the next six in the squad have been given 1.5 lakh. Six other squad members and team officials and coaches were given one lakh each.
The three performers of the tournament in captain Sabina, Krishna Rani and Rupna Chakma were given added reward of two lakh Taka each. Altogether, 51 lakh Taka was distributed to 32 individuals.
