Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Tabith Awal is holding an optimistic view regarding the impasse over women's football team's training camp, saying that they "will most definitely come to an amicable solution soon."
The 18 senior players continued their boycott of head coach Peter Butler till Saturday despite requests to join from the BFF president, who met each of the players as well as the coach on Thursday night.
According to various sources in the know of the matter, the president has sat with each player individually and asked them to join training, with assurance of taking care of their grievances over contract and coach's behaviour.
However, all those efforts went in vain as none of the players have joined training. It is believed that only a handful senior players are leading the rebellion against the coach and the rest of them are just obeying their orders.
Tabith, in conversation with The Daily Star, made it clear that he still wants to take a lenient and accommodating approach.
"I have met them personally and individually on Thursday evening. We will continue our engagements with the individuals because in the football family we are all responsible for each other and depend on each other," Tabith said.
With the national team slated to play two friendly matches in UAE against the hosts on February 26 and March 2, and the training camp already into its second week with 37 players now, time is running out for the senior players to be considered for the trip.
Tabith, who was in the UK when the rebellion was gathering steam, is however keeping the door open for even the seniors, provided they join and prove their fitness before the team's departure on February 24.
"There is a deadline for when we have to submit the names of the squad. Anyone who is willing and fit at the time of the deadline will be considered," the BFF president said.
