For clubs across the world, the transfer window has either closed or will be shutting soon, while others still have plenty of time to make additions to their squad before their respective deadlines.
With FIFA Club World Cup 2025 beginning in June, plenty of the 32 sides have made signings ahead of tackling the global finals.
UEFA
Manchester City
The biggest movers in the European window were Manchester City, who have bolstered their squad right across the board.
A pair of centre-backs kick-started the arrivals, with Abdukodir Khusanov joining from Lens for £34m, while 19-year-old Vitor Reis arrived a day later from fellow Club World Cup side Palmeiras for £30m. Electric forward Omar Marmoush added to the forward line later that week after sealing a £60m switch from Frankfurt. Nico Gonzalez was the final major addition, with the 23-year-old signing on deadline day for £50m from FC Porto, who will also contest the Club World Cup.
Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund's biggest move this month came on the touchline, as Niko Kovac replaced Nuri Sahin at the helm. On the pitch, Carney Chukwuemeka arrived on a loan deal from fellow Club World Cup participants Chelsea.
FC Internazionale Milano
The only arrival at San Siro this window was Nicola Zalewski on loan from fellow Serie A side Roma. He made an instant impact, assisting Stefan de Vrij's late equaliser in the derby against AC Milan just 17 minutes into his debut.
Juventus FC
Thiago Motta added to his squad at both ends of the field. Alberto Costa was acquired from Vitoria Guimaraes for €14m, with Renato Veiga also arriving from Chelsea on loan. Randal Kolo Muani, who contested the Qatar 2022 final with France, also came in on a temporary switch from Paris Saint-Germain.
Paris Saint-Germain
One of the biggest moves of the window saw Khvicha Kvaratskhelia head to Paris from Napoli for €70m. The Georgian made an assist on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Stade Reims.
CONMEBOL
CA Boca Juniors
Alan Velasco signed for Boca for €9.6m from FC Dallas, and was later joined by Williams Alarcon, Ayrton Costa, Ander Herrera and Carlos Palacios for an additional €12m. The club did, however, lose highly-rated midfielder Cristian Medina to Estudiantes.
CA River Plate
While Claudio Echeverri departed River following the conclusion of his loan spell from Manchester City, the Argentinian giants went big to bolster their squad elsewhere. Sebastian Driussi arrived for €9.75 from Austin, while Lucas Martinez Quarta and Gonzalo Montiel, scorer of the winning penalty in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ final, joined from Fiorentina and Sevilla respectively for a combined €11.5m.
Botafogo
It's been all change at Botafogo during this window, with the €33m sale of Copa Libertadores hero Luiz Henrique to Zenit and the departure of Thiago Almada on loan to Lyon. Fogo have brought in Artur from Zenit for €10m, while Jeffinho's loan switch from Lyon was made permanent for €5.3m. In the dugout, coach Artur Jorge also moved on and was replaced by Carlos Leiria.
CR Flamengo
It was a case of one veteran Brazilian joining Flamengo in the shape of national team captain Danilo, while one also left, with David Luiz bringing to an end more than three years with the club. Carlos Alcaraz and Gabriel Barbosa also departed, while Juninho joined for €5m from Qarabag.
Palmeiras
The Periquito have gone big in the transfer window, spending a combined €36.75m on forwards Paulinho and Facundo Torres, and defensive midfielder Emiliano Martinez.
The Brasileiro transfer window remains open until February 28.
AFC
Al Hilal
One big outgoing from Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal dominated the headlines as Neymar, following an injury-plagued 18 months, headed back to Santos on a free transfer. In his place, they've brought in Vitoria Guimaraes winger Kaio Cesar for €9m, who netted on his debut in a 4-0 win over Al-Okhdood Club.
The UAE Pro League transfer window remains open until 11 February. The J1 League transfer window remains open until 26 March. The K League transfer window remains open until March 27.
CAF
Al Ahly FC
After more than 100 games for the club, Al Ahly said goodbye to South Africa international Percy Tau this window. His replacement was highly-rated 22-year-old Slovenian forward Nejc Gradisar from Fehervar, who has netted three goals in his first two games for his new side.
The Egyptian Premier League transfer window remains open until February 8.
Concacaf
CF Pachuca
The Tuzos strengthened their attacking force via a Club World Cup rival. John Kennedy, who scored the goal which confirmed Fluminense's place at the tournament in the 2023 Copa Libertadores final, has joined on loan from the Brazilian side.
Club Léon
The Mexican giants produced one of the standout transfers of the window, bringing in James Rodriguez, who scooped the adidas Golden Boot from 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, on a free transfer from Rayo Vallecano. James opened his account for the club in his first start, netting from the penalty spot in a 1-0 win over FC Juarez.
CF Monterrey
Two of Mexico's Club World Cup representatives also did business with each other on 9 January, when Nelson Deossa joined Monterrey from Pachuca for €6m.
Seattle Sounders
The Sounders traded in both Jesus Ferreira, who was part of USA's squad at Qatar 2022, and Paul Arriola from FC Dallas, while Kim Keehee returned to the club following four years with fellow Club World Cup side Ulsan HD. Long-term forward Raul Ruidiaz, who played more than 150 games for the Sounders, left following the expiration of his deal.
