TRUMP WIN MAKES SCHAEFER SWEAT
Ex-Germany international Marcel Schaefer is questioning his future plans to join a North American Major League Soccer team, because of Donald Trump's election to become president of the USA. The 32-year-old defender won the last of his eight caps for Germany in 2010 and has made 255 German league appearances for Wolfsburg, winning the 2009 Bundesliga title and the 2015 German Cup. His mother lives near Atlanta and he had planned to join an unnamed MLS club once his current Wolfsburg contract expires in June. But the results of last week's US election has given Schaefer second thoughts over plans to play out his career in the United States after Trump was heavily criticised for sexist and racist comments during his campaign. —Afp
