No shortage of incentives as shooters head for World Cup in Azerbaijan

A 21-member Bangladesh shooting contingent headed for Baku, Azerbaijan this morning to take part in the ISSF World Cup, starting on Friday.
The game's local governing body announced financial incentives for the shooters as the winners with gold, silver and bronze medals will receive Tk 5 lakh, Tk 2 lakh and Tk 1 lakh, respectively. Shooters will also get an additional Tk 1 lakh if they can score 630 in the qualification round of rifle event and can score 576 in the qualification round of pistol event.
As many as 15 male and female shooters will take part in nine rifle and pistol events. Among the shooters, Rabbi Hasan Munna, Nafisha Tabasum and Shakil Ahmed, can be banked on pulling off some commendable performances, considering their recent scores.
"Munna has been very consistent for the last three months as he scored 632 in local competition," said Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation general secretary Intekhabul Hamid Apu.
"If he [Munna] can maintain his regular score, there is a good chance for him to reach the finals, where there will be a possibility of winning a medal in the World Cup.
"Nafisha has also been in fine form for the last three months and she scored 631 in the local competition. The federation has high hopes on her if she maintains consistency," the general secretary added.
"Shakil also has a good potential of reaching finals if he can score 576 plus which is within his reach."
