Shakib fifty takes Bangladesh past 100
Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan took the onus upon himself to drag the Tigers out of trouble with his 55th ODI fifty that took his side past 100 in their Asia Cup Super Four encounter against India at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday.
Shakib came in to bat in the fourth over and hit five fours and a two sixes while bringing up his fifty in 65 deliveries when he hit left-arm spinner Axar Patel for a maximum in the 26th over taking the Tigers to 124 for four.
Towhid Hridoy unbeaten on a 36-ball 25 at the other end has given Shakib able support as the duo stitched a 65-run stand for the fifth wicket after the Tigers were in dire straights at four down for 59.
