'Win against India will give a lot of confidence'

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz feels that the victory against India in the last Super 4 fixture of the Asia Cup will boost their confidence, going into next month's World Cup.

The Bangladesh team returned from Sri Lanka noon, after beating finalists India by six runs in Colombo on Friday night in a dead-rubber. Even though this was only Bangladesh's second victory against three defeats in the competition, the all-rounder felt it will definitely lift the morale of the team.

"Winning against India will definitely help get the confidence within our team. Since India was the strongest team in this tournament, but we beat them and it will help us in the next step as we have the World Cup ahead of us," the all-rounder said after reaching Dhaka along with the other players.

"We had no chance of reaching the final of the Asia Cup. But we had one hope that if we can win against India, the confidence will be good in going to the World Cup," added Miraz, who scored a century against Afghanistan, Bangladesh's other victory in the six-team tournament.

The all-rounder felt things could have been much better had they had an injury-free squad.

"Overall I think the players suffered a lot from injuries in the Asia Cup. I think if we were all fit it would have been a very good tournament. Since some people got injured, we will hope they recover very quickly before the World Cup."
