Tigers closing in on history
Ebadot Hossain and Bangladesh handed New Zealand a heavy blow early with the dismissal of Ross Taylor as the visitors kicked off the fifth day of the Mount Maunganui Test today from where they left off on the fourth day.
New Zealand find themselves in total disarray at 161 for nine after 70 overs in their second innings, leading by 31 runs.
Ebadot's second delivery on the second over of day surprised Ross Taylor as the ball nipped back sharply through Taylor's defense to an inside edge before it hit timber. Taylor departed on 40 off 104.
Overnight batter Rachin Ravindra was lucky to survive in Ebadot's next over as a thick edge flew in between the first slip and wicketkeeper. New batter Kyle Jamieson, however, was not. Ebadot grabbed his six-for, courtesy of a stunning diving catch by Shoriful Islam at short midwicket.
Taskin Ahmed piled even more misery for the Kiwis in the next over, the innings' 68th, sending Ravindra home with a ball that shaped away from the left-hander. Ravindra was lured into a drive, only to edge to the wicketkeeper.
Tim Southee came and went as Taskin dislodged the stumps to scalp his third with a fiery inswinger, showing hint of reverse.
