We are learning the crafts of Test bowling, says Ebadot
Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain said that his team has the motivation to do well and want to deliver a victory to the nation, following his four-wicket haul which catapulted the tourists into pole position going into the final day of the Mount Maunganui Test on Tuesday.
The right-arm quick produced a fiery spell to tilt the Test in favour of the Tigers, taking four wickets for 39 runs as New Zealand are only 17 runs ahead with five second-innings wickets in hand.
"We are trying. Our teammates and support staff gave us a lot of support. We didn't do well in the past in New Zealand. But this team wants to represent our country in a positive way and do something good like making a winning start. We are trying to start with an away win," Ebadot said in a post-day video message.
The 27-year-old had his doubters after being included ahead of the more experienced and more successful Abu Jayed Rahi. However, his bowling effort in this innings following a good outing against Pakistan late last year should justify his inclusion. His five wickets so far in this match have seen Ebadot's average making considerable improvement. The Sylhet-born pacer, though, believes he and his teammates are just beginning to learn the traits of how to be effective both at home and foreign conditions.
"I have played both at home and abroad. The pitches at home are a bit flat and batting-friendly. We are trying to learn how to prize out wickets in those conditions. In away conditions, wickets assist seam bowlers for first two hours. So we are still learning how to adapt to home and away conditions. We are also learning how to make the old ball to reverse. We are still learning these crafts," Ebadot said.
"We will try our best to register a victory tomorrow," the pacer concluded.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh team's physio Bayzidul Islam informed that opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy needed three stitches in between fingers of his right hand and will be under seven days' observation.
