Bijoy returns to Test squad after almost 8 years
Top order batter Anamul Haque Bijoy has been added to the Bangladesh Test side for the West Indies tour, informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) through a press release today.
Bijoy, who only featured in four Tests for Bangladesh and last played at the Gros Islet in 2014 when the Tigers toured the West Indies, comes in as Yasir Ali's replacement after the latter was ruled out of the Test series against the West Indies due to a back injury in the warm-up game. However, the national selector Habibul Bashar had earlier said that a replacement for the injured Yasir would not be required.
The 29-year old wicketkeeper-batter, who displayed a phenomenal scoring spree in the Dhaka Premier League earlier this year, is scheduled to leave for Antigua on 17 June and will be available for the second Test in St Lucia.
The Test series kicks off on Thursday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua from 8:00 pm [Bangladesh Standard Time].
