Khaled eyes fifer as Mayers’ outstanding knock ends after Lunch
Kyle Mayers' brilliant innings finally ended as play resumed following rain delay and Lunch interval on day three of the Gros Islet Test today.
Khaled Ahmed picked up his fourth wicket of the innings as a well-disguised slower delivery caught the left-hander off guard. Mayers scooped the ball towards mid on where Shoriful Islam made no mistake in grabbing the catch. This is the second time that Khaled has picked a four-fer after he pulled off the feat against South Africa in Durban earlier this year.
Mayers might be a bit disappointed to have missed on a 150, however, the Carribean batter has done all the damage, as far as Bangladesh are concerned. Mayers departed after scoring 148 off only 208 deliveries, featuring 18 fours and two sixes, but his 116-run stand with Jermaine Blackwood had given the home side the advantage as the Windies were struggling four down for 132 on day two.
At 399 for eight, the West Indies now lead by 165 runs in their first innings.
