Khushdil notches up fastest BPL 2023 fifty as resurgent Comilla down Dhaka

Comilla Victorians' Pakistani recruits Mohammad Rizwan and Khushdil Shah starred with fifties to set up a 33-run victory against Dhaka Dominators handing Nasir Hossain's side a fourth straight loss in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.

After being put into bat, Comilla Victorians posted 184 for four on the back of a 47-ball fifty from Rizwan and a blistering 24-ball 64 from Khushdil. Coming in at five, the left-hander smashed five sixes and seven fours to notch up the fastest fifty of the ongoing edition as he reached the landmark in 18 balls to power Comilla to a challenging total.

In reply, Dhaka's top-order woes continued as for a consecutive outing opener Soumya Sarker and Englishman Robin Das were dismissed for naught.

Skipper Nasir Hossain, already being Dhaka's best batter in the tournament so far, added to his reputation and scored an impressive 45-ball 66 that saw him hit seven fours and two sixes but it went in vain as the right-handed batter couldn't take his team home as Dhaka finished at 151-4.

Comilla's left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam continued his impressive run after returning to the side and stood out picking up a wicket for 12 runs.
