Hey, you’re here!: Rohit surprised to see Tiger Shoaib in Pune
Indian captain Rohit Sharma made a surprise appearance at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium during Bangladesh team's training session today, where he had a special interaction with the Tiger's superfan Shoaib Ali.
Although the Indian team are scheduled to train at the same venue in the evening, many had assumed that the Indian skipper would most likely skip the optional training session.
But Rohit arrived at the venue in his blue Lamborghini ahead of time, while the Tigers were still training, and was immediately swarmed by fans.
Among the fans, Rohit spotted a familiar face in Shoaib, rolled down the window of his car and said, 'Arey tu yaha agaya (Hey, you're here!)."
Shoaib, who is also known as 'Tiger Shoaib', was overcome with emotions as he narrated his brief encounter with Rohit.
"I was waiting along with some other Bangladeshi fans outside the main gate of the stadium as the team was training inside the ground. Suddenly I spotted a blue car with Rohit Sharma in the driving seat. I shouted his name. The next moment, Rohit stopped his car and spoke to me. This is why he is a big player, he is a very down-to-earth person," Shoaib said with tears in his eyes.
Rohit came early to presumably get a head start on his preparation ahead of the Bangladesh match on 19 October.
India are undefeated three matches into the tournament and are high on confidence after thrashing arch-rivals Pakistan in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Rohit hit a punishing 86 off 63 balls in that match on the back of his rollicking 131 against the Afghans.
Rohit already has seven centuries in World Cups and seeing his keenness to begin training, it seems that the opener is determined to add another one to his tally against Bangladesh, who are reeling from consecutive heavy defeats against England and New Zealand.
