England opener Dawid Malan said that his experience of playing in the Bangladesh Premier League helped him to play against the Bangladesh bowlers in the Three Lions' thumping 137-run win against the Tigers in Dharamshala on Tuesday.

Malan smashed 16 fours and five sixes in a masterful knock of 140 runs off 107 balls as he notched up his fifth ODI hundred to help his side post 364 for nine after England were sent into bat first.

The 36-year-old played for Prime Dholeshwar Sporting Club in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, featuring in 24 matches in the Dhaka Premier League, and has also featured for the Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League.

"Yeah, I've been fortunate to play in a few Bangladesh Premier Leagues. I was able to play against these guys quite a lot and in different conditions, on some good wickets in Chittagong, and sometimes down in Dhaka. So, you learn different ways of playing against the same opposition," Malan told the media during the post-match press conference.

It was Malan's second hundred against Bangladesh, with the first coming earlier this year in Mirpur where he played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 114 runs, single-handedly helping his side to victory.

"I thought the one (century) I had at the beginning of the year was probably the best one I've had in those conditions. And then to get them on a much flatter wicket, I was able to cash in as well. So, yeah, I think the more you play against an opposition, the more they learn about you, the more plans they have. But also, the experience that you have against them puts you in good stead of a sure day as well," he said.
