Should electricity and gas prices be fixed without a public hearing?
What kinds of changes will the recent amendment to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Act bring about in terms of fixing prices for electricity and gas? Does all this not point to a lack of transparency or accountability of the electricity generation and distribution companies? Professor Dr M Tamim of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) talks to The Daily Star Opinion about these topics.
