Why are women still unsafe on university campuses?
When thousands of university students come together to watch the FIFA World Cup, why are there so few women in these festive crowds? Despite the fact that university campuses are supposed to be safe for all, the truth is that they are far from women-friendly. On-campus incidents of sexual harassment and violence are regularly reported on, and it is clear that university authorities are failing to carry out their responsibilities in ensuring campus safety.

Gitiara Nasreen, Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University, speaks to The Daily Star Opinion on this and more.
