‘DSDE Youth Exchange’ at BRAC Centre

Desperately Seeking Development Experts, formally known as DSDE, has been serving as the largest network of development practitioners in Bangladesh. This February, they organised 'DSDE Youth Exchange' at BRAC Centre, for young individuals who want to work in the development sector of the country and abroad. The participants comprised of fresh graduates, university students and experienced job-holders. It worked as a catalyst to better educate them and upskill their understanding of how to have a successful career in this field.

The event promoted how problem solving aptitude is key to excel in development-based professions. Throughout the day, DSDE invited some national and international practitioners to speak and enlighten the participants on how to develop problem solving skills and how to succeed in this market.

Hossain Ishrath Adib, Head of Programme Implementation at Practical Action Bangladesh shared his views during an ice-breaking session, followed by a speech from Ashraful Alam, Country Coordinator at UNCDF SHIFT, who shared the points of view of recruiters and the qualifications required to join the development field.

 Md Arafat Hossain, Challenge Fund Manager, BFPB and Technical Advisor, FHI360 spoke about the fundamentals of building an international career in development. Md Rubaiyath Sarwar, Managing Director, Innovision Consulting and Founder DSDE, also facilitated the session,  'Competencies for high performance: Lessons from the World.' The day was wrapped up with a session by Tas Rahman, Head of Skills Development Programme at BRAC, who spoke about different types of CV writing. Speakers from abroad joined the session through online calls. The event was a package of knowledgeable creative episodes. The participants indulged in the tasks with great curiosity and excitement.
