Samsung Bangladesh - eSports Championship 2019

For the first time in Bangladesh, Samsung organised an Inter-university DOTA 2 eSports Championship, which concluded last month, with the final matches at Independent University, Bangladesh. With an impressive prize pool of gifts from Samsung worth BDT 500,000 in total, Samsung received a huge response from universities like IUB, BRAC, AIUB, EWU, ULAB and NSU.  There was no entry fee required for the teams, yet the prize pool quite impressive.

The tournament had 41 teams from six private universities.  6 teams were announced as the finalists and one of them, Final Rise from Team IUB, won the grand champion's trophy. Final Rise consisted of Rizvan "Dreamshock" Moin, Md Nurul Amin "Oldman Legend" Jony, Salman "Beholder" Rahman, Mohammad Aiman "Len" Iqbal and Shaike "Priest" Rahman. Smart Tech, InterSpeed and Amarnet also supported the event.

According to Mohammad Aiman Iqbal who played for Final Rise, his teammates were familiar with the gameplay of each other because they attended several tournaments together beforehand. They practiced for 1-2 hours every day before the championship. He encouraged the younger players to maintain a good balance between their education, family life and gaming and not stress over winning so much. "Gamers in Bangladesh rarely receive support from their families," says Shahriar Rahman, one of the organisers of the event. "If we can show the elders that we can be successful in the e-sports sector, more talented gamers will be encouraged to represent the country locally and internationally."
