Shilpangan, a contemporary art gallery in the capital held the opening ceremony of “Kauthopokauthon”, the fourth solo exhibition by artist Samar Majumder on February 16. The event was inaugurated by the writer, researcher, and trustee of the Liberation Museum, Mofidul Hoque. Writer and art critic, Prof Moinuddin Khaled attended the event as the special guest. Following the cordial speeches regarding the artist, the exhibition was initiated.

An exclusive group art exhibition titled “Harmony of Colors” organised by Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts began, yesterday. The exhibit features a number of artworks conducted by a group of senior artists renowned in the art scene around the world.
During the workshop, the eight artists –Dina Zaman, Sadia Hussain Ether, Abir Shome, Syed Tareq Rahman, Jewel A. Rob, Sanjid Mahmud, Rupam Roy, Emran Sohel produced art pieces along with the kids of Shishupolli. Dina herself wore full white clothes and asked the kids to paint on them. They also painted with the art supplies they received at the workshop. It ended with a small cultural program by the residents of Shishupolli.
One of the intentions of the exhibition was to bring a global element to the COVID-19 experience through the images from other countries in which Uzan had travelled.
Daagi’s latest exhibition, which has been titled “Zero Calorie”, tries to re-explore our contemporary issues, questioning and reminding us of the usual narratives which are underlyingly problematic and collectively ignored. The first piece of AMS is ‘Lost in Translation’ by visual artist Azizee Fawmi Khan. In search of the soul of a lost city, the artist traveled to Panam Nagar, collected some of its snippets—including the local folktales—and found a connection with the drama ‘Neel Darpan’ by Dinabandhu Mitra.
Abstraction has always been an intriguing medium of expression. In recent years, abstract art has made its way to the general spectators, outside of just artists and patrons. As one of the most popular elements of modern-art, abstraction brings forth unknown and unseen emotions and thought-processes. “Dreams Ascendant”, Saifuddin Ahmed’s first solo exhibition, shows a dominance of this particular style. The inauguration of the exhibition took place at Gallery Shilpangan, Lalmatia on December 4. Artist and cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharjee, and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art at University of Dhaka were present at the opening ceremony.
On 17 November, Kuhu Plamondon hosted her 3rd art exhibition at the Bay Edgewater Gallery, Gulshan Dhaka. Finding inspiration from the simplest of things, Kuhu’s art collection this time was a sheer reflection of her thoughts. The third edition of Ora Egaro Jon, presented by Bangladesh Art Week, a voice of Bangladesh’s art industry that provides a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their artwork in an international context, brought together internationally renowned and established Bangladeshi artists alongside invited younger artists. Bangladesh Art Week introduced A.R.E (Augmented Reality Exhibition), a collection of portable generative art showcasing the work of 11 female artists at Dhaka Gallery, a concept that brings together some of the best generative art in South Asia, offering a uniquely immersive art experience.
Life 2019 is a group art exhibition featuring paintings by 39 female artists. It was inaugurated at Gallery Cosmos on Bangladesh's Independence Day, by the chief guest, Australian High Commissioner HE Julia Niblett.
