#Perspective / Beyond biological bonds: Celebrating all mothers

A mother is a priceless gift. The love of a mother cannot be replaced with any amount of wealth in the world. But are biological mothers the only ones who can experience motherhood? Going beyond conventional notions and embracing the love and care that transcends biological ties, it is time to recognise and celebrate the various ways that individuals embody the role of a mother.

Pregnancy and motherhood: Confessions of a ‘not-so-perfect’ mother

Dreams relating to motherhood began quite early in my life. It was mostly inspired by pregnancy photoshoots with celebrities like Brooke Shields, Kirsten Dunst, and Demi Moore. These ladies made pregnancy look like a piece of cake. With their long and thick hair resting on their shoulders, and finely manicured hands cradling their perfectly shaped bellies – everything looked handpicked, as if from a favourite fairy-tale.

Welcome to Millennial Motherhood

After eight years of being an active mother, I have finally come to terms with acknowledging the identity of motherhood.

The invisible mental load on mothers

Most of motherhood that is glorified — the process of giving birth, breastfeeding, the sleepless nights — is visible. What if we say that this is only the tip of the iceberg? The invisible and infinitely more extensive workload frequently goes unseen by the world and is most often, the root cause of why mothers feel tired all the time. We call it the mental load and all mothers can relate.
