Bangladesh assistant coach Nic Pothas has argued that batters did not have the required power to have confidence about them that they are going to make up for deliveries they use up to get in.
“Liton Das has so much to offer us. Liton Das is a world class cricketer. He is one innings away from having an unbelievable World Cup.”
Bangladesh team’s assistant coach Nic Pothas yesterday said the Test team’s batting unit is going through a rebuilding stage and everyone needs to remain patient, a statement that contradicts what other important figures of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had said in the days prior.
The Tigers' interim head coach was also happy with the preparation that Shakib has come with despite being out of the national team for a while.
“We are enjoying it, we are enjoying the challenge and we are enjoying watching these young guys flourish,” Pothas said
Former South Africa batter Nic Pothas was appointed assistant coach of Bangladesh and deputy to head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and, with the Sri Lankan still on vacation, Pothas has been overseeing the Tigers' training camp. In his first interaction with the media, he joked about having a magic wand that could fix Test batting woes.
“We expect these young cricketers to come in, and suddenly be world-beaters just like that. It is not possible. He (Towhid) has a lot of potential and a desire to learn. He has a high work ethic. I am excited for what he can do,” said Pothas.
