Fardin murder: Buet students stage demo demanding killers' identification

Students of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) have demanded a fair probe and identify the killers of their fellow student Fardin Noor Parash.

Two weeks have passed since Fardin's body was recovered from the Sitalakkhya river, but law enforcement agencies are yet to determine the motive of the murder or identify the killers.

The students demonstrated in front of the university's Shaheed Minar around 1:00 pm.

One of the protestors, Mashiat Zahin said, "Fardin had no connection with any terror bodies. We never knew or heard of such things from anyone. Besides, he did not even have any affair with anyone, which were circulated on some media."

She said, "We have faith in the law enforcers. We hope they will conduct a fair investigation and find out the preparators involved in the killing as soon as possible."

While talking to The Daily Star, Shadman, Fardin's batchmate said, "He was our class representative. He was such a responsible student that he had no enemies as we knew."

About recent developments in the murder case, he said, "It still seems unnatural to us that Fardin's last location was found at that place. As we had an exam the next day, he was not meant to be there on that hour."

In a reply, he said, "We are not sure if it was Fardin in that CCTV footage. We don't want to comment further over the matter. The law enforcers should work on it."

On November 7, Fardin's body was recovered from the Sitalakkhya river in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj, three days after he went missing.

He was a third-year student in Buet's Civil Engineering department.
