A parliamentary committee yesterday placed its report to the parliament on the much-talked about Road Transport Bill, recommending some changes in the proposed law.
Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity yesterday demanded the prime minister's intervention to include passenger representatives in the committees to be formed under the proposed Road Transport Act-2018.
The cabinet has given final approval to the proposed Road Transport Bill, 2018. There are some good measures in the proposed act like minimum educational qualification (Grade 8) and minimum age (18 years) to get a professional driver license, and introduction of a 12-point system which would lead to ultimately cancellation of license for violation of law.
BNP terms the proposed Road Transport Bill as jugglery saying that it will not be able to ensure safety and security of people on the roads.
