Star Cineplex is set to treat local moviegoers with the release of two high-profile Hollywood films tomorrow. Leading the lineup is “Jurassic World Rebirth”, the newest chapter in the blockbuster “Jurassic World” saga.
Four Hollywood films are set to be released simultaneously at Star Cineplex tomorrow. The much-talked-about horror sequel “M3GAN 2.0” and “F1: The Movie”, a film based on the Formula One World Championship, will also see their international release on June 27.
Despite a high-profile Eid-ul-Azha release, the film “Tagar” starring Puja Cherry and Ador Azad has been pulled from screenings at the country’s three major multiplexes—Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas, and Lion Cinemas—due to poor audience turnout. Initially released with multiple shows at these venues, the film failed to draw sufficient viewers, prompting its early withdrawal in the second week of release.
The Star Cineplex authorities have issued a public warning, urging moviegoers to stay alert and avoid unauthorised platforms.
Two of Hollywood’s most anticipated films- “Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning” and Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” are set to release today at Star Cineplex, sparking major excitement among Bangladeshi moviegoers.
The breakthrough came during a meeting held Thursday (May 22) afternoon at Star Cineplex’s Bashundhara City branch, where both parties agreed on a revised revenue-sharing model. While the exact financial terms remain undisclosed, the agreement is being hailed as a significant move towards greater transparency and collaboration in the country’s film exhibition sector.

This Eid-ul-Fitr, the overwhelming popularity of Bangladeshi films has led Star Cineplex to halt screenings of Hollywood blockbusters at its branches nationwide. Initially, the multiplex scheduled local and international films, hoping to offer a diverse cinematic experience. However, due to the overwhelming demand for domestic productions, the organisation has shifted its focus entirely toward Bangladeshi releases.
However, just 12 days after its debut, Star Cineplex removed “Jinn 3” from its screens, and the film is no longer being shown in any theatres across the country.
“Despicable Me 4” is set to hit the theatres across the globe today, July 3, including the United States. There is good news for fans in Bangladesh — the film will also debut at Star Cineplex on the same day.
“Revenge” and “Dark World” had been playing at Star Cineplex’s branches in Bashundhara City and Sony Square, Mirpur. However, with the audience turnout failing to meet expectations, the management has opted to replace these films with additional screenings of “Toofan” — increasing the on-demand film’s total number of shows to 55.
In celebration of Eid, Star Cineplex is set to release three new films simultaneously on June 14. The lineup features the highly anticipated "Bad Boys: Ride or Die", the newest entry in the popular “Bad Boys” franchise, which premiered in the United States on June 7.
During its premiere at Cannes, the film received a seven-minute-long standing ovation. The event was attended by its primary cast members Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and director George Miller.
Earlier on May 3, two movies hit the screens– "Shyama Kabya", directed by Badrul Anam Saud, and "Deadbody", directed by Mohammad Iqbal. Both directors have accused Star Cineplex of favouring foreign films over Bangla cinema.
Amidst Star Cineplex's alleged inclination towards showcasing foreign films over Bengali films, which has garnered severe criticism from the artiste community and audiences alike, the director asked for his film to be withdrawn from Star Cineplex.
The controversy has escalated with the abrupt replacement of these local hits with foreign movies, despite the scheduled release of new Bengali films like "Shyama Kabya" and "Dead Body".
Directed by Hollywood producer David Leitch, the film will be internationally released on May 3. However, On May 1, the film will be released in Star Cineplex, allowing Bangladeshi audiences to watch it before many other countries including the United States and Canada.
