Liton and Hridoy score contrasting half-centuries in Abahani win

Abahani batters Liton Das and Towhid Hridoy adopted vastly contrasting approaches while chasing a meagre 179-run total in their five-wicket win over Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Super League of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.

Hridoy ton keeps Abahani on top

Prime Bank’s Tamim Iqbal struck an 83-ball 65 while in-form opener Parvez Hossain struck his third DPL ton this season, notching a 111-ball 110. Shabbir Rahman struck 39 as well but after the 122-run opening stand and the 96-run third-wicket stand, wickets fell regularly as Prime Bank managed 279 all out.

Hridoy earns maiden Test call-up

Towhid Hridoy earned a maiden call-up to the Bangladesh Test side as the young batter replaces experienced campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim in the squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka which will begin at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
