The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has launched digital versions of its primary and secondary textbooks online. The digital rollout comes as a response to setbacks in the delivery of hard copy books, which are still in the process of being printed and distributed.

PDF versions of all the textbooks are available at NCTB's website.

Over 40 crore textbooks are being produced for the 2025 academic year, for primary and secondary education. According to NCTB, only 6 crore 6 lakhs books were printed as of the afternoon 31 December 2024.

Education officials acknowledged the delay in physical book distribution and apologised to parents for the inconvenience. The digital copies aim to mitigate the impact of these delays, providing students with uninterrupted access to essential educational materials.

NCTB has also made 441 revisions in textbooks to enhance content quality. This year, the government has pledged not to outsource printing abroad and is taking steps to address monopolistic practices in textbook production and distribution.
