Russian court fines TikTok 3 mln roubles
A Moscow court has fined TikTok three million roubles (around $28,930) for failing to comply with Russian legal restrictions on the distribution of specific types of information, according to a recent report by Reuters.
According to the report, the Russian court's press service did not disclose the details of the violation.
This legal setback adds to the growing list of challenges faced by TikTok globally. The social media platform owned by Chinese tech company ByteDance, is currently under scrutiny in several countries, including the United States, where concerns over data privacy and security persist.
In December, TikTok also faced a year-long ban in Albania. Moreover, an order from the Canadian government in November to cease its operations in the country, citing national security risks.
