Tesla will begin mass production of its all-electric truck, Cybertruck, at the end of 2023, according to a recent report by Reuters. Officially unveiled in 2019, this is now the fourth time the Tesla Cybertruck has faced production delays.

While initially targetted for a late 2021 production, the production dates were later pushed back to late 2022, early 2023 and now, late 2023.

Last month, Tesla had announced that work on its new Texas plant has already begun - which will be the site where the Cybertruck will be mass-produced. The early production stage is set to begin in mid-2023, with Musk stating in a recent financial report that the company is in "the final lap for Cybertruck".

Since the initial reveal, thousands of potential buyers have already paid $100 each to reserve the Cybertruck. However, Tesla has not yet revealed the release date, the final price, or confirmed specs of the final version of the electric vehicle.

What is the Cybertruck?

Tesla's Cybertruck is an upcoming all-electric pickup truck that is designed to provide "better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car", as per Tesla. The truck will sport an ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel exterior and Tesla armor glass, with a polymer-layered composite that can absorb and redirect blunt force.

According to Tesla, the Cybertruck will have 3,500 pounds of payload capacity, over 14,000 pounds of towing capacity, an expanded storage vault and adjustable air suspension. The official website of Tesla also states that the most expensive model of the Cybertruck will have 500 miles of driving range and feature 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.9 seconds.

When revealed in 2019, Tesla projected a price of under $40,000 for the Cybertruck. But since then, prices of vehicles, including ones by Tesla, have increased. It is currently unconfirmed what the price of this electric truck will be upon its expected release in early 2024.
