Editor's Note
The game is afoot
Everybody loves a good whodunit. We love the mystery and the allure. And we want to find out what really happened. Today is Sherlock Holmes Day, the famous detective who only used his brain to figure everything out. And he kept that brain warm with the famous deerstalker hat.
Er, turns out, he never wore that hat. In Arther Conan Doyle's works, Sherlock never wears it. It showed up in illustrations that accompanied short stories for Strand magazine in the late 1800s. Artist Sidney Paget drew the cap that has become as recognisable as a Nike swoosh.
This week we look at detectives, their fictional cars and their real life, seemingly sci-fi tools. And we invite you to become detective by using a local tool to sift through hoaxes and false news online.
