BNP blasts PM for Sunday’s remarks

BNP lambasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after she had expressed her worry regarding grabbing of state power through unconstitutional means.
Addressing a discussion in Dhaka yesterday, Hasina said: “She (Khaleda) has been looking to Uttar Para in the hope that someone will come from there to take her to power.”
BNP in a press statement this afternoon said the prime minister has undermined the reputation of the state’s institution through such remarks.
The statement issued by BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Being proud of the country and nation, army has been carrying out the duties upholding their reputation intact. As flag-bearer of the independence and sovereignty of the country, we don’t want to engage them in any controversy.”
In another statement, Salahuddin alleged that the government has been hatching a conspiracy to kill BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed in the name of taking him on remand.
He alleged that Rizvi has been sick mentally and physically as he has been taken on remand for repeatedly.
On January 31, Rapid Action Battalion picked up Rizvi from a house at Baridhara.
