Construction site accident in Malaysia kills another Bangladeshi
A Bangladeshi construction worker was killed and another injured in an accident at the Semantan work site of the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) line in Kuala Lumpur today.
Issuing a media statement, the company said Rijaul Abdul Goni, 40, died on the spot, while injured Shanaullah, 37, had been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
“The workers were on the ground assembling a rebar (reinforcing bars) cage...during the assembly the tie gave way. The steel rods fell and hit the workers around 1:20pm [local time],” said Amir Mahmood Razak, director of MRT Corp’s strategic communications and public relations.
Amir said the worker could have succumbed to internal injuries.
Work has been suspended at the scene until further notice.
Earlier yesterday, two Bangladeshi construction workers were buried alive when the ground caved in on them inside a pit at Tapah, in the state of Perak, of Malaysia.
