Latifur Rahman laid to rest next to daughter Shazneen
A business icon of the country, Latifur Rahman, founder chairman and CEO of Transcom Group, was laid to eternal rest at the city's Banani graveyard.
He was laid to rest beside his daughter Shazneen Tasnim Rahman and grandson Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain last night.
A substantial number of people from different walks of life, including family members, friends, well- wishers, employees of different organisations he founded, attended his namaz-e-janaza at the Gulshan Azad Mosque around 9:30pm yesterday.
Latifur Rahman passed away at 11:00am yesterday at his paternal home in Cumilla.
His body was taken to his Gulshan residence around 8:30pm, where relatives, friends and well-wishers were waiting to see him one last time. The body was kept there for around 25 minutes.
Earlier, an ambulance of Alif Medical Service started for Dhaka from Cumilla at around 5:40pm.
Before his janaza, Zarif Ayaat Hossain, grandson of Latifur Rahman, solemnly urged all on behalf of the family to pray for the salvation of the departed soul.
He recalled that four years back, on this very day his younger brother Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain died.
"On the same day our grandfather also left us for good. He was an honest and ethical businessman. All of you please pray for him."
Distinguished personalities also attend the jazana.
Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of Latifur Rahman, who demonstrated success and ethical practices are not mutually exclusive in business.
