A painter died of electrocution in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj today.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, son of Abdus Salam of Putimara village in the upazila.

Locals said Abu Bakar died on the spot after he came in contact with a live electric wire while painting the wall of a building at Putimara village under Shologhar union around 11:00am.

Confirming the incident, Md Qaiyum Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Srinagar Police Station, said, "We will tell the Palli Bidyut Samity to quickly remove the electric wires from there."

The family of the deceased will not file any case in this regard, he added.
