Nat’l grid to get 8m cubic feet of gas from tomorrow
Sylhet Gas Fields Ltd (SGFL) is set to supply up to eight million cubic feet of gas to the national grid daily from an abandoned gas well at Sylhet's Beanibazar upazila tomorrow after concluding workover at the well.
The state-owned company recently discovered fresh gas reserves at the abandoned well, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
"After concluding workover and the test, gas supply to the national grid from the Beanibazar-1 well is all set to start tomorrow," said SGFL Managing Director Md Mijanur Rahman.
The well was abandoned in 2016 after 35 billion cubic feet of gas was extracted from a depth of 3,450 metres.
The SGFL with the help of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) started workover on September 10 amid the current gas shortage. After completion, testing was started on November 11. The test showed some 10 million cubic feet of gas flow at 3,100 pH pressure.
The test result made SGFL hopeful to add seven to eight million cubic feet of gas to the national grid along with about 100 barrels of condensate daily from the well.
The state-owned company also is planning workover at four more abandoned wells -- Kailashtila-2, Rashidpur-2, Rashidpur-5 and Haripur-7.
