Cox’s Bazar hotels, motels to reopen partially from tomorrow
After around three months of closure, hotels, motels and cottages in Cox's Bazar will reopen partially from tomorrow by maintaining health guidelines.
But tourist spots on the sea beach will remain closed, our local correspondent reports.
The decision was taken at a meeting of local administration on June 20. In the meeting Helal Uddin Ahmed, senior secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, ordered to resume 50 percent operating capacity of hotels, motels and cottages.
The business establishments were declared closed for an indefinite period on April 1 following the second wave of coronavirus. Movement of people to tourist spots were also restricted.
A committee headed by Cox's Bazar additional district magistrate has been formed to monitor whether the business establishments are following health guidelines issued by the government to curb the Covid-19 infection.
On the other hand, the owners, employees and different organisations related to the business in the sea beach points demanded reopening of the spots.
