Police to issue 'movement pass' for 'strict lockdown' period
Police will issue "movement pass" to people based on needs during the "strict restrictions" -- going into effect from tomorrow -- imposed to curb the worsening coronavirus situation.
Last year, police took this initiative during the lockdown but failed to launch it. This year, they are launching an app for the movement pass.
People can obtain the pass through the app but it must be for emergencies.
A high official, seeking anonymity, of the Police Headquarters said, "As far as I know, this app is for all those who want to go from one place to another... for official purpose and for any emergency movement."
People can obtain the pass through the app, he added. To get the pass people have to visit: movementpass.police.gov.bd.
According to a statement of the police headquarters, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed will inaugurate the app tomorrow (Tuesday), a day before the "strict restrictions" will begin.
The pass will be granted on condition of a certain time slot after providing information. Also, it will be granted anew each time. One pass will be usable only once. Two separate passes -- for destination and return -- will be needed.
For this, the applicants need name, photo, mobile number, starting place, destination, identity card or driving license and reason for movement.
