Two tourists found dead at separate Kuakata hotels
Police recovered the bodies of two tourists from two separate residential hotels at Kuakata beach today.
The body of Manik (45) was recovered from Allahr Dan Residential Hotel at around 2:30pm and the one of Sourav Jamil Sohag (48) from South Bangla Residential Hotel at around 6:00pm, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Mahipur Police Station.
The bodies were sent to Patuakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC Moniruzzaman said.
According to police, Manik, son of Abul Hossain of Sanua village in Chattogram's Banshkhali, arrived at the hotel on Sunday night. When Manik did not leave the room till noon today, the hotel authorities informed police who broke down the door of the room and recovered the body.
Sourav was found dead in a room of South Bangla Residential Hotel in the evening. However, another person who was also in the same room, one Tuku (49) of Khulna, has gone missing since 11:00am, police said.
Sohag and Tuku boarded their hotel room on Sunday morning. The hotel's room service went to clean the room in the afternoon and found Sourav's body on the bed and then informed police.
Patuakhali Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said it is suspected that Sohag was suffocated to death using a pillow.
Police are investigating the matter.
