Dramatic weather report

The Weather Channel is using a new form of reporting with the help of "immersive mixed-reality technology" to keep its viewers updated on tropical storm Florence.

Instead of the usual collage of confusing graphics, arrows, and charts, there's a much more realistic -- and frightening -- scene on the screen, reports CBC Radio-Canada.

The Weather Channel said the dramatic graphics are meant to better inform viewers -- not entertain them, CBC said.

In one example, it appears as if the studio is filling with water during a report about Hurricane Florence, which has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.

The Weather Channel started using this dramatic way for its reports since earlier this year.
