Dhaka University protests Rohingya persecution
Dhaka University teachers, students and employees today formed a human chain protesting persecution of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
The protesters formed the human chain for an hour in front of Memory Eternal on the campus since 11:00am, reports our DU correspondent.
While forming the human chain, Acting DU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said, "Myanmar must take back the Rohingya refugees".
"We called upon quick resolution for the Rohingya crisis," he said.
More than 436,000 Rohingyas fleeing violence in Rakhine state have taken shelter in Bangladesh, according to an agency of the United Nations.
About 1,000 teachers, staff and students have urged the Myanmar government to take back their citizens who fled to Bangladesh since August 25.
