Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today told the parliament that the entire world at present has raised their voices against the persecution of Rohingya people in Myanmar and requested the Myanmar government to bring their citizens back to the country.

"Canadian Prime Minister has phoned Aung San Suu Kyi to take back the minorities to Myanmar. Diplomats of 45 countries and two international organisations during their recent visit in Cox's Bazar have also expressed their deep concern over the atrocities against Rohingya people," she said.

"UN Security Council in its meeting also urged Myanmar to stop repression and highly lauded Bangladesh's role for giving shelter to Rohingyas," PM said in her winding-up speech.

The seventeenth session of the parliament that started from September 10 was prorogued tonight with five working days.

In her speech, PM described the inhuman situation -- the way Rohingya people are staying at present at Ukhia in Cox's Bazar.

"It is not possible for them to live there. Therefore we have decided to build their temporary accommodation at Bhasan Char which is also known as Thengar Chor," PM also said.

Hasina added she is scheduled to hold meeting with the Naval chief tonight on this issue as she has asked the Naval chief to complete some preparatory works in this regard.

"I want to complete some work [build temporary accommodation for Rohingya at Thengar Chor] before by leaving the country for USA on September 16 to attend UN general assembly meeting," Hasina also said.
