Tiger kills zookeeper in China
A tiger mauled a cleaner to death in Yichun city, East China's Jiangxi province on Friday, reports China Daily.
The animal's cage in Chuntai Park was not locked, a netizen disclosed via the Twitter-like Sina Weibo.
"The tiger was out of control and killed one worker," according to local police.
Chuntai Park is an important historical and cultural site in the city. It covers an area of 3.6 hectares and has a peak 130 meters high.
Local police are still investigating the incident.
An employee at a zoo in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, said that the standard procedure to clean a tiger's cage requires the animal to be moved to a secure enclosure first and usually involves two people in case of any problems.
